Primary Minister Katrina Hodgkinson has come up with a novel idea to reel in votes.
Ms Hodgkinson said a re-elected Baird government would stage a Fishing Day each year, with the first to be held "towards the end of 2015".
"First time fishers, recreational, commercial and indigenous fishers and anyone who just enjoys casting a line will be invited to participate," she said.
"The new initiative recognises the importance of fishing to the NSW community.
“This will be a day to enjoy and promote fishing as a vital part of our Australian lifestyle, to educate our young generation and importantly, promote our local seafood industry.
“The day will include fishing competitions for all ages and workshops for the younger generation, as an extension of the NSW Government’s ‘Get Hooked…it’s fun to fish’ education program."
Is this a great idea, or an election gimmick?
