Fatality ignored
An authority quoted no deaths but nine people injured from 2009 to 2013 and that it regularly monitors community attitudes.
It's somewhat sad that a man can be killed after working years and his statistic not even be mentioned, thus my first letter to your newspaper.
During my lifetime we've had recourse dealing with fatalities and can clearly recall my first at Mortdale in 1987. Weather was clear, a fine day. An elderly man travelling in a small car was killed during a disastrous collision at this intersection. At least 50km/h speed limits now apply. We're taught inappropriate speed kills and we're also taught police continually issue infringement notices for road offences because some drivers don't learn.
The new Punchbowl Woolworths store has not one, but four roundabouts within a stone's throw of each other, unlike Mortdale. An Australian record?
