Hurstville ratepayers upset about forking out for Mortdale roundabout

Re "Roundabout funds a welcome windfall" (Leader, March 17) and both Hurstville Council and the state government falling over themselves with competing bids to fund the roundabout outside Mortdale Plaza.

Only in the land of politics can an original stuff-up by Hurstville Council be now presented to a supposedly grateful community as a "windfall"; and by the way, whichever offer is successful it's either the ratepayers' or the taxpayers' money that's being offered. Big deal!

So we are to get a roundabout after all our politicians grandstanding prior to election.

The cost, well, all of us ratepayers have to fork out. Our council has let us down.

This should have been done prior to the building approval and then the developer should have contributed.

Hurstville Council should look at the excellent job by Bankstown Council with the new entrance to Coles at Revesby.
