Thousands of residents turned out to honour the Anzac story in Parramatta, as the nation paused to mark 100 years since the Gallipoli landings.

The parade made its way from Parramatta RSL from 4am, ending with the dawn service at the cenotaph in Prince Alfred Park.
A highlight of the ceremony was a speech by Lieutenant Colonel Robert Lording, who used first-hand accounts to illustrate the challenges faced by the Anzacs on April 25, 1915.
The Parramatta Lancers, Australia's oldest battalion, were among those marching.
The Lancers lost more than 200 men at Gallipoli and march every Anzac Day, wearing plumes to signify their important place in Australian history.
