Red tape about tree removal puts lives and homes at risk

Re "'Safe tree falls on house" (Leader, April 23). Councils deny permission, occupants are placed at significant risk, home owners end up paying higher premiums, insurance companies win.

The sooner we remove this dreadful, useless tier of local government, the better off we will all be.

I agree with Ron Coleman of Engadine (Leader, April 23). Council have too much say with removal of trees. I would like to see an independent person make these decisions, at council's cost.
