Day two of the three-day event sees small but very contestable waves being ripped apart by the senior boys, setting up a thrilling finals day tomorrow (Friday, May 8).
The top two of the four age categories — under 16 and under 19 boys and girls — will progress to the 2015 NRMA NSW State School Surfing Titles to be held at Port Macquarie in July.
School Surfing NSW (SSNSW) supports government and non-government schools to help students surf as part of their curriculum.
SSNSW services the NSW coast from Bega High School in the south to Tweed Heads High in the north.
The NSW coastline is divided into six School Surfing regions, each co-ordinated by a teacher as the convener.
It is estimated that 2000 students surf each week in terms one and four, and that 1500 students surf during the year.
Local school competitors are looking to repeat the success of last year.
Favourites Paris Whittaker and Nathan Martin have are in the quarter finals.
Paris had the highest wave score of the day with 9.3 out of 10.
