Flood of trucks
Remember that the Cronulla High School area had put up with the smell for years with no relief.
With six to 10 truckloads of waste a day to be treated, the council is now concerned for the wellbeing of the estate and no doubt for the new Holt development.
The council is also concerned for the safety of cyclists on Captain Cook Drive. The trucks would only travel some 400 or 500 metres up Captain Cook Drive, so there would only be a problem at the poorly designated entry into Greenhills.
The greater danger will be from the thousands of extra vehicles from the new developments on the peninsula. What is needed is an extension of Bate Bay Drive and the development of a road along Wanda dune track to Sir Joseph Banks Drive, along with a designated cycle track.
