SUTHERLAND Shire's largest annual festival, the Cronulla Spring Festival, is set to ignite the surfside suburb with fun activities for children and adults.
The festival runs on the weekend of September 12-13.
There will be shopping opportunities, tasty food, a car show, rides, a carnival and entertainment for all ages.
The Hot Potato Band will be among the roaming entertainers at the two-day event.
"Kids on the Green" is a new attraction this year and is designed for children, taking place at Monro Park opposite Cronulla station.
Entry is free and children can pat the animals, step inside a butterfly house, take a pony ride through the gardens or learn some tricks at the free circus playground.
Organisers recommend Monro Park as a place where families can picnic.
A Touch of Eden Café will bring acoustic musicians to the park throughout the weekend.
There will be five live entertainment sites spread around the festival as well as several roaming entertainers.
At the northern end of Cronulla Street, the pavilion stage will host the Smurfs Show and some of the shire's top school talents, including Grace Pitts, who was recently on Channel Nine's The Voice.
Performers such as blues musician Ray Beadle will also be performing.
Sutherland Shire mayor Kent Johns said that the Kirrawee High Stage Band along with dancers, singers and other artists would be on stage.
The Brass Monkey stage, located near the old Commonwealth Bank, will showcase a taste of Cronulla's Australian Music Week, to be held later in the year.
There will also be two busking stations in Cronulla Street.
More than 100 market stalls and 100 specialty shops will be open throughout the weekend.
A Show and Shine vehicle display will be located at Peryman Square on the beachfront.
The RSL Motoring Enthusiasts Club will be competing all weekend for "best in show".
Festival-goers are advised to take public transport to the event.
The festival runs from 10am to 4pm on both days.
