The South Caringbah teenager won the Australian title at the annual under-20 National Cross-Country All Schools titles at Moonee Ponds in Melbourne on August 29.
Hoare, 18, zoomed around the racetrack over the 8000-metre course, winning gold.
His father Greg said Hoare had competed every year since he was 10 at this national event.
‘‘His first national cross-country titles were in Perth were he finished 15th,’’ a proud Greg told the Leader.
Past winners of the national cross-country event include Olympians Rob de Castella , Steve Moneghetti and Craig Mottram.
Hoare, a year 12 Trinity Grammar student, won by seven seconds. On Thursday he was primed for the 86th annual CAS (The Associated Schools of NSW) titles at the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre.
Hoare won two gold medals and finished with a bronze in his three events on the same day.
His 8min 27sec record in the 3000-metres broke Olympian Nicholas Bromley’s previous CAS record of 8min 42sec that had stood since 2001.
An hour later Hoare finished third in the 800m final with a time of 1:58.
In the 1500m open final, he slashed more than four seconds off Andrew Currie’s 1976 record of 4:00:03, slashing it by more than four seconds, to win in 3:56.
‘‘I am thrilled with my efforts at the national cross country titles and the CAS events and proud to do have done so well,’’ Hoare said.
