Sutherland police did more than 1,050 breath tests over the long weekend during Operation Slow Down.
The operation began on Friday October 2 and ran until 11.59pm on Monday, October 5.
During that time seven motorists were charged with mid range drink driving in the local area command.
They include:
- An Illawong man, 28, was driving on President Avenue in Kirrawee at 12.50am on Saturday, October 3, when police pulled him over. He gave a breath test reading of 0.086 and will appear in Sutherland Local Court on October 29.
- A Jannali man, 44, was driving on Box Road, Jannali on Saturday, October 3, at 1.40am when he drove through a red light. He was taken to Sutherland police station where he returned a breath test of 0.123. He will appear in Sutherland Local Court on October 29.
- An Oyster Bay man, 22 was stopped on South Street at Gymea on Saturday, October 3, at 2.30am. He was taken to Sutherland police station where he returned a breath test reading of 0.114 and will be in Sutherland Local Court on November 5.
- Police stopped a Cronulla man, 35, or a random breath test on the Kingsway, Gymea on Saturday, October 3, at 7.25am. He had a negative reading and was taken to Sutherland police station. He had a second reading there of 0.107. He will appear in Sutherland Local Court on November 5.
- A man, 44, was arrested after he failed a roadside breathe test on the Kingsway at Gymea on Saturday, October 3, at 7.55am. He was taken to Sutherland police station and returned a second reading of 0.112. He will appear in Sutherland Local Court on November 5.
- A Brighton-le-Sands man, 44, returned a negative breath test after being pulled over on Adelong Street at Sutherland on Sunday, October 4, at 12am. He was taken to Sutherland police station and returned a second reading of 0.131.
He will appear in Sutherland Local Court on November 5.
- A Gymea man, 33, returned a negative breath test after being pulled over on Sylvania Road at Gymea on Sunday, October 4, at 6.40pm. He was taken to Sutherland police station and returned a second reading of 0.081.
He will appear in Sutherland Local Court on November 5.
All drivers charged had their drivers licences immediately suspended.
