Pensioner excursion paper tickets will disappear on January 1 next year, replaced by the Gold Senior/Pensioner Opal card.
The kiosk at Westfield Hurstville, located opposite the Dick Smith store, will operate for four days this week, from November 3-6.
Opening hours will be 9am to 4.30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and 9am to 8.30pm on Thursday.
Next week, from November 10-13, a kiosk will operate at Westfield Miranda, with the same opening hours as those at Hurstville.
A spokeswoman for Transport for NSW said seniors and pensioners did not need a credit card to apply for a Gold Opal card at the kiosk, but would need to bring a NSW Seniors Card, Pensioner Concession card, or DVA NSW War Widow/ers card.
‘‘Customers who apply for a Gold Opal card at the information kiosk will receive their card in the mail within five to seven working days,’’ she said.
‘‘The Gold Opal card has many benefits including the same $2.50 all day travel currently available with a Pensioner Excursion Ticket, and it’s just as easy to use.
‘‘Value can be added to the card over the phone, online or at a retail outlet.’’

BREAKOUT
Online applications for the new School Opal card opened on Monday, November 2.
Not all parents and students need to apply.
Education Minister Adrian Piccoli said many students who had a paper school pass this year would automatically be issued with an Opal card at their school from the start of term one, 2016.
He said online applications were needed for students who were starting kindergarten, moving from Year 2 to 3, starting high school, changing school or changing their address.
The School Opal card will allow approved travel on school days between a student’s home and school or college between 6.30am and 7pm, or 6.30am and 9.30pm for TAFE students.
It will not cover associated travel, such as to and from before and after school care or child-minding premises, before and after school activities, school excursions, sports events or work experience.
