PLAYING a young Jackie Kennedy, the former US first lady, has proven just another step in the stage career of Sian Fuller, 11, of Engadine.
Sian has performed in a number of musicals with numerous theatrical groups and is now appearing in her first musical production with Squabbalogic Independent Music Theatre — Grey Gardens.
Adapted from the cult classic 1975 documentary film by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Doug Wright, the musical explores the dysfunctional relationship between socialite Edith Bouvier Bealen — Jackie Kennedy's aunt — and her daughter, known as Little Edie, who is Jackie's cousin, as they languish for a decade in a derelict manor, Grey Gardens.
This year's winner of the City of Sydney Eisteddfod musical theatre section, Sian studies modern, jazz and tap at Kick Academy of Performing Arts, Menai, and is a keen musician, studying singing, violin and piano.
She is a vocal soloist with the Catholic Schools Performing Arts unit and recently recorded an album for Channel Nine children's TV show The Imagination Train.
Grey Gardens is showing at Seymour Centre as part of the Reginald season for small arts companies. Tickets: seymourcentre.com or 9351 7940.
