I am very concerned about the use of mobility scooters in southern Sydney.
I have had some close calls when driving and coming into contact with these machines.
I am not clear as to the rules governing them. Someone is going to be seriously injured or killed because of the lack of regard mobility users have for theirs and other's safety.
An example of this is recently a person drove into a friend in a shopping centre and when he was spoken to about the speed he was going in the centre he abused her.
I have seen users speed across walkways and roads with no regard to what might be around them. In car parks, [they] drive across and cut out in front of cars, regardless of safety.
Something has to be done now to make these machines, users and the public safer.
