Two men from Roselands were injured when they poured an accelerant while trying to light a charcoal barbecue at Bonnie Vale picnic grounds, near Bundeena on Sunday.
A fire crew was called to the park at about 12.30pm.
They found the accelerant caused a large fireball to burst, causing burns to the men’s faces, neck, chest and arms,
One man 29, was taken to Royal North Shore hospital with burns to his face and neck.
The other man, 44, was taken to St George Hospital with burns to his left forearm.
The Bundeena Rural Fire Brigade warned people again about the danger of lighting fires.
They said in the past few weeks there were more fires also being lit on beaches.
People caught lighting fires in these areas may be subject to prosecution during the bushfire danger period, which ends in March.
