Fitzpatrick, 12, is unable to fight in NSW but competes at various amateur interstate events to fine-tune his skills.
Under the watchful eye of dad Sean, Joshua won the under-14, 36-38 kilogram division, having won the 12-years and under title last year.
"The tournament is getting bigger and bigger," Sean said. "It was a massive event and there were kids from the UK, Cuba and Papua New Guinea."
With just three fighters competing in his class, Joshua, the year 6 Yarrawarrah Public School pupil, progressed to the final without having to step into the ring.
The final against a fellow Australian had three 90-second rounds.
"He won the fight 17-3 with two standing eight counts," Sean said. "He is coming ahead in leaps and bounds."
Fitzpatrick trains at Sutherland PCYC with dad and the gym's head trainer Brendan Cannon.
Although laws prevent children from boxing in NSW until they are 14, Fitzpatrick has fought throughout Australia.
"He was picked in the NSW team to fight at the national championships," Sean said. "Giving up two kilograms, he lost in the semi-final by one point."
Fitzpatrick was picked in Cronulla Sharks under-13 academy and was part of the premiership-winning Yarrawarrah Tigers team. He will spend time with the NSW high performance boxing unit during the school holidays.
Fitzpatrick will fight in Brisbane later this year.
