In sport they say records are meant to be broken.
Imogen Stewart competed in the NSW State 3000 metres Championships recently and, competing in the elite A-category women’s race, ran a time of 10 minutes 4 seconds to set another world record for her age.
Imogen, of Sylvania, holds 12 world records in various distances on the track from 800 metres to 3000 metres in her age group.
The Sylvania school girl started running aged seven.
Her most recent world record was set at the Illawarra Track Meet over the classic distance of one metric mile (1609 metres) at Wollongong on Saturday January 16.
Imogen sliced 13 seconds from the previous record set in 1971.
The 10 year-old is coached by her father, Owen Stewart.
Imogen runs for Illawong Little Athletics Club and St George District Athletics Club.
