Woolooware High School students have returned to school after a bomb threat was made earlier today.
Miranda police Inspector Gary Ford said the school received a phone call at 10.40am that a bomb was on school grounds and would be detonated in 30 minutes.
The school evacuated students and staff before calling Miranda police.
The school was searched before students were allowed to return at 1pm.
Miranda detectives are working with other local commands to investigate the incident.
Earlier
Woolooware High School was evacuated today after reports of bomb threats were made to several schools across Sydney.
A NSW Police media spokesperson said they were unable to comment further, but a police statement earlier today said they were aware of threats made to schools in the Metropolitan and Southern Regions.
Schools in Penrith, Mona Vale and Richmond were also believed to be involved in the threats, which may be a hoax.
Victoria Police are also investigating similar reports in Victoria.
The Woolooware students were taken to nearby Cronulla Sharkies Leagues Club as a precaution.
Investigations are continuing, and police are liaising with the Department of Education.
The department said it was working closely with NSW Police after several schools received threats this morning. Each school is taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety of its students and no students are in danger. Police are attending at each location also as a precaution. Concerned parents can contact their child’s school.
Police warn that making such threats is a serious criminal offence and every effort will be made to identify the person or persons responsible.
