Rockdale City have started the new season the way they finished 2015 – heading in the right direction.

The Suns won the Maso Cup in Wollongong before scoring a 1-0 win over Blacktown Spartans in their first trial on Sunday night.

New signing Peter Makrillos scored the only goal for the Suns against a strong Blacktown side.

The former Stoke City youth player is one of the club’s big name recruits heading into the new campaign alongside Blake Ricciuto from Uruguayan giants Penarol and Tolgay Ozbey (Sydney Olympic).

The Suns’ under-20s team also won 2-1.

Rockdale will host Sydney Olympic in their second trial match on Sunday night at the Ilinden Sports Centre, Rockdale.

Kick-off is at 6pm.

The club are looking for junior and senior players for the 2016 season.

The Suns are looking for girls to join their under-12s, 13s, 14s, 16s and 18s teams as well as their men’s over-35s and over-45s teams.

Interested players can contact Goce Trajkovski on 0428 883 047.
