Visual artist Lachie Hinton, 24, of Lilli Pilli, has an art exhibition about the recent decline of Kings Cross’s red light district and the entertainment industry.
‘‘I’m striving to illustrate the fundamentals of human nature.’’ Hinton said.
‘‘I want to explore social and political forces in contemporary society and culture with imagery that reveals an emotive interpretation of experience that offers insights into the human condition.’’
The artist uses a fluid drawing style, often working with ink, graphite, charcoal and oil, that he aims to be dynamic in form and centred on the emotional experiences of people and places.
The show is called Fading Red Light of the Cross and is running at present until February 15 at Gaffa Gallery, 281 Clarence Street, Sydney. Phone 9283 4273.
