From Illawong to the outback, Rob Macpherson will embark on an epic journey to raise money for a maternity ward in northern Uganda.
In March this year he will attempt to ride his motorbike across the width of Australia and back, in support of Sutherland Shire charity Love Mercy Foundation.
Love Mercy aims to empower rural communities to overcome poverty after decades of civil war.
Mr Macpherson’s travels will take him to the most easterly point of the nation – Byron Bay in NSW, through to the most westerly point – Denham in Western Australia.
In preparation for the trip he has been training in long-distance rides, and so far has raised more than $15,000.
“I am dedicating this ride to those people, and seek to raise money to build a new maternity clinic,” Mr Macpherson said.
