Carly Cheung, 20, is in her final year of studying visual communication at Raffles College of Design and Commerce, Parramatta.
Her horror-style digital artwork has been included on the promotional poster for the Australian short film, The Witching Hour.
The nine-minute live action film was screened at Flickerfest and St Kilkda Film Festival in 2015.
It tells the story of survival, as a mysterious world comes to life at the stroke of midnight.
Ms Cheung’s poster toured with the film in the US, Canada, Spain and Mexico in the past 12 months.
She was also one of four lucky students who attended a free character and animation masterclass conducted by the director and producer on Pixar Animation, Andrew Gordon, and character artist Chris Sasaki.
Ms Cheung’s teacher was so impressed with her work, he recommended her for the job.
“My teacher works with lots of Australian directors and artists, and his friend was the director of this film,” she said.
“It was a great opportunity – sometimes it’s the people you meet.
“I was inspired by classic horror movies from the 1950s and 60s, and it was awesome to replicate that iconic style.”
