It was a mixed start to the inaugural Netball NSW Premier League for local teams Sutherland and UTS St George last Wednesday night.
The Stingrays downed Eastwood Ryde 61-51, while the Sparks suffered a nail biting 46-44 loss to Manly Warringah.
Sutherland also won their under-20s clash over the Hawks, winning 44-32.
The Sapphires also got the better of UTS St George in the youth game, winning 46-38.
Sutherland play GWS Fury in round two on Wednesday night, while UTS St George face Panthers.
Both matches are at Netball Central, Sydney Olympic Park, and start at 7pm.
Meanwhile, the Sydney Swifts face a grand final rematch when they face the Firebirds on Saturday.
