A man, 46, has been charged with numerous offences after a police pursuit through the Sutherland Shire on Wednesday.
Just before 9.30am Miranda police were called to The Boulevard after concerns about the welfare of a teenage girl.
Police said as they approached a vehicle on foot, the driver drove from the scene, injuring an officer.
A pursuit was started but was terminated due to safety concerns.
The man was arrested a short time later at Gymea Railway Station.
A girl, 15, was found nearby.
The man was taken to Sutherland Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
Police said once there the man tried to escape police custody; however, he was found nearby and taken back to the hospital.
The girl was uninjured during the incident and has been placed into the care of Family and Community Services.
He has since been charged with not stopping during a police pursuit, driving recklessly/furiously, refuse or fail to provide a urine sample, escaping police custody, assaulting police, resisting arrest, entering enclosed land, not giving particulars to other driver, using an offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention and driving with an expired license.
He was remanded to reappear in Sutherland Local Court on July 11.
