Three St George students received top honours at this year’s NSW Regional Training Awards.

They were Peakhurst’s Daniel Helou, who studied construction carpentry, and Matthew Wills who studied commercial cookery, and Oatley’s Kerry Nichol, who received vocational education and training (VET) teacher of the year.
The annual awards celebrate the excellence displayed by apprentices, trainees and students.
Now in their 61st year, the awards promote VET and highlight the benefits of vocational qualifications for individuals, communities and industry.
There is a strong representation of traineeships and apprenticeships in and a growing interest in school based courses.
A total of 35 students were recognised for their achievements, and will have the opportunity to progress to the NSW Training Awards in September.
