A Peakhurst Heights man, 45, has been charged after making false allegations after a car accident.
At 9:30pm on Friday, May 27, Sutherland police were called to a two-car accident on Heathcote Road near Sandy Point.
When they arrived one of the cars had already left.
During the investigation police said the driver who left the scene had told officers his car had been stolen.
Sutherland police said an investigation found that was not true.
The man has been charged with false representation resulting in a police investigation and publishing false or misleading material to obtain advantage.
He will appear in Sutherland Local Court in September.
