Two schools in St George and Sutherland Shire have won national innovation awards for their dedication to educating students for the future.
Inaburra School at Bangor and Woniora Road School at Hurstville were recognised for their achievements by education sector magazine The Educator, which released its annual innovative schools report.
They were rated as among the 40 most innovative schools in Australia.
The report profiles schools that stand above the rest for their commitment to driving the education industry forward.
It involved the assessment of schools across all states, based on use of technology and ability to enhance student learning.
The report took into consideration all things innovative – from teaching approaches to learning spaces and curriculum design.
The schools had introduced an innovative edge in learning and all aspects of education, and was at the cutting edge of applying creative and innovative practices.
Inaburra’s Bring Your Own Technology program seeks to integrate student learning in the classroom with learning at home.
It encourages students in years 5-12 to use their device to undertake creative learning and submit work online.
Woniora Road School incorporates mental health resources by creating a well-being space on digital platforms to help students access help online.
