They have a massive battle on their hands against Melbourne on Saturday night but Cronulla players took to a different battlefield yesterday.
Sharks stars Jack Bird, Valentine Holmes, Ricky Leutele and Andrew Fifita took time out to test the new Battlefield 1 video game as part of the collaboration between the club and Electronic Arts.
The collaboration included the NRL squad wearing a uniquely designed jersey in their win over the Sydney Roosters on Saturday night that featured elements of the game which helped bring to life the spirit of the collaboration – ‘Welcome to our Battlefield’.
Sharks winger Holmes said he was already hooked on the game.
“I’ve played COD [Call of Duty] before and it’s very similar to that,” he said.
“I’ve been playing Battlefield 4 at home, it’s heaps of fun.
“[I play on] PlayStation, so the controls are a bit [different today]. [The graphics are] awesome.”
Bird was also a fan.
“It was good, it was a bit different. It was hard, it was different to the games I play,” he said.
“But it was good fun. Obviously you’ve got to get used to it.
“I think the more I play it the more I’ll enjoy it. It was pretty cool.”
Holmes said there was no question who of the Sharks’ quartet was the best at the game.
“Probably Ricky [was the best]. It wasn’t me, I died heaps of times,” he said.
“I was still learning but Ricky is pretty good at those games.”
