St George players will have the chance to kick on into summer as part of a new summer football program to be delivered by the St George Football Association.
The popularity of the sport continues to grow and, following the completion of another successful local season, players, coaches and referees will now have the opportunity to continue to play beyond the winter competitions.
SGFA general manager Craig Kiely said it was exciting that football could now be played over the summer months.
“Football is now clearly a year round sport and we are delighted to be able to offer an additional program that provides a fun and exciting environment for our kids to stay active over the warmer months,” he said.
SGFA is the local body for football in the St George district, the largest and most participated sport in the area, representing close to 10,000 players.
The program is officially endorsed by Football NSW and will be open to junior boys and girls from under-7s to under-15s. It will be held at the multi-purpose synthetic pitches at the Kyeemagh RSL and Community Club.
The SGFA is also taking expressions of interest for senior age competitions.
Team nominations are open until September 8 with the competition kicking off on September 21 and 22.
