Headspace offers a comprehensive, early-intervention mental health service for young people aged 12-25.
There are 95 federal government-funded headspace community centres across the nation.
In the past decade, close to 260,000 young people have had access to mental health care with the provision of more than 1.5 million services in person, online or over the phone to headspace.
On October 11, 2016, social workers and youth including those at headspace Hurstville and Miranda will recognise their achievements in supporting young people in St George and Sutherland Shire.
It opened its centres in 2014.
The theme of this 10 year event is Access All Areas, which aims to ensure that people have access to youth friendly mental health services.
Headspace Hurstville and Miranda operations manager Leanne Atkinson says the national event is an opportunity for the community to raise awareness about youth mental health.
“Our centres have supported 970 local young people in St George and 1100 in the Shire in getting the help they need since we opened our doors two years ago,” she said.
“It’s great that young people are accessing mental health and well-being support and we want that to continue.
“Every year, a quarter of all young people across Australia will experience mental health issues and we want them to know that headspace is here to help.”
