The new look Beverley Park Golf Course was launched in style over the weekend with fireworks marking the first tee off from the fairway.
Hundreds of past and present members took part in the event which also showed off the new water channel on the course.
There was also a long list of dignitaries including Member for Cook Scott Morrison, Member for Barton Linda Burney, Member for Oatley Mark Coure and Georges River Council General Manager Gail Connolly.
The event also celebrated the 75th anniversary of the club with a plaque unveiled by long time members Bruce and Judy Apitz along with Club President Frank Bates and Captain Warren Emmerick.
A second plaque was unveiled to mark the opening of the new water channel which will help mitigate flooding in the area.
Other projects on the horizon for the course include a perimeter fence and an increase in storm and recycled water storage.
President Frank Bates said the day marked a significant milestone in the history of the club.
“In the club’s 75 years there has never been such a transformation of the course like we have seen during the past 11 months as a result of the Beverley Park channel project,’’ he said.
‘’The club had a significant financial loss during the project period from November 2015 to now and I praise the board of directors and all staff who have guided and worked the club through incredible financial stress during the project.
‘’I am lost for words in praising your resilience and professionalism.’’
Mr Bates praised the members, permanent social clubs and sponsors of the Club who contribute 75 per cent of the funds to keep the park operational.
“Thank you for your loyalty through the past year.”
Mr Bates acknowledged the support of Michael Rachid from United Stone of Bexley who donated two plinths for the plaques at a cost of $6,400 and singled out the project superintendent Daniel Metcallfe and his course staff for the presentation of the new layout designed by James Wilcher from Golf by Design.
He also praised the ongoing efforts of the club captain Warren Emmerick who was given the honour of hitting the ceremonial ball down the first fairway to signify the opening of the course.
With the new course opened 112 members and guests took part in a four ball teams stableford event.
