The Kings went down 77-73 to the Brisbane Bullets on Saturday night despite a strong Sydney fightback in the fourth quarter.
Moller, a former Cronulla Sharks junior and AFL player with Fremantle, joined Sutherland for the 2016 Waratah Championship Season.
The 22-year-old, 202-centimetre tall former ruckman, began training with Sydney in January as a potential injury replacement and signed with the Kings as a development player in September.
Brisbane looked to have the game secured when they led 56-50 going into the final quarter but the Kings found some momentum to take the lead for the first time since the first quarter.
Back Brisbane wrestled back the ascendancy to run out four-point winners.
Sydney face Illawarra in round two on Thursday night.
