A MYSTERY surrounding the Cronulla Sharks has been solved – sort of.
Earlier this week, a message of support emerged from an American football game match for the Sharks.
A message stating “Up, Up Cronulla – Best wishes to the Cronulla Sharks” flashed up on the scoreboard at a home game for the Denver Broncos NFL club at Mile High Stadium, US.
A Broncos club spokesperson said scoreboard announcement requests could be made at the stadium for a fee.
The Broncos website states “The Denver Broncos are happy to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries and proposals with their fans at home games”.
However, the mystery still remains – who requested the message of support for the 2016 NRL champions?
The answer could emerge from the supporting relationship that exists between the Sutherland Shire and Lakewood, Denver Colorado.
Sutherland Shire has a sister cities agreement with Lakewood, which is at the foot of the Rocky Mountains.
A long-running exchange program between students from the two countries has been supported and managed by Sutherland Shire Council for the past 37 years.
In 2015, Year 12 students from the Sutherland Shire spent six months living with families in Lakewood.
