An ex-CSIRO research scientist, and long-term keeper and promoter of Australia’s native bees, Dr Heard is the author of The Australian Native Bee Book.
In addition to conducting research and publishing scientific research papers, he has been keeping Australian native stingless bees for over 30 years.
He has also developed new hive designs and techniques that allow better splitting and extraction of sugarbag and wax.
During the talk he will discuss how his book came about, who contributed, and the challenges that had to be overcome.
The one hour talk will be held from 6:30pm at the library.
