Over 2,300 of the state’s finest surf life savers competed at Blacksmiths Beach in Lake Macquarie for their chance to etch their name into the history books as the 2017 NSW Surf Life Saving Open Championships finished yesterday.
Over 90 of the 129 NSW based clubs were represented at the three-day championship which is always a highlight on the domestic surf sport calendar.
Huge seas in the early rounds ensured the Surf Boats were a competition highlight with success for the local Bate Bay surf clubs.
Nth Cronulla once again flexed their muscles in the boats taking out both the U23 Male and Female divisions-showing that their strengths should continue for another generation.
Purds Colts took out the u23 male and Micks Jugganauts the female,Nth Cronulla crews also finished 6th in the u19 female and 4th in the reserve’s.
Elouera also got on the medal dias with a 3rd in the open womens division,this was after winning every heat until the final where the Wilko crew couldn't buy a wave.
