Council will forgo the traditional route of using a professional design company and instead open it up to the community.
Bayside Council General Manager Meredith Wallace said by opening up the process to the community it would build a sense of ownership in the brand.
‘’Our community know us best of all, so who better to ask to come up with ideas for our new look and feel,’’ she said.
“Bayside Council is new and fresh and we want a logo that reflects that energy as well as recognising that two communities have come together to build a stronger unified organisation.’’
She said it would replace the interim square logo with a corporate symbol that would be readily recognised as Bayside Council while retaining the colours, image and type face.
The new logo must be able to be used across a range of applications from letterhead and brochures to websites and social media, welcome signs, street flags and vehicle signage.
Ms Wallace said all submissions must be entered by people living or who own a business in the Bayside Council local government area.
“It must create an identity which people can recognise at a glance,” she said.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for a local person interested in, or a student studying graphic design or photography or someone who just feels strongly about creating something special for their local community.
“We are looking for ideas and concepts from individuals or it can be a collaborative design submitted by a school group or organisation.”
