Hundreds of students at a Wagga primary school have cheered on their favourite teachers as they braved the World’s Greatest Shave.
Lake Albert Public School set themselves a target of $500 but smashed their aim, raising around $1250 for the cause.
Teacher David McGowan was one of six teachers who took on the razor.
Mr McGowan said the shave was important to set an example for the students.
“This kind of thing really helps show the students that we sometimes do things we don’t want to do in order to help others,” Mr McGowan said.
“I spent some time beforehand helping the kids understand it doesn’t matter what you look like and how great it is to show our support.”
Fellow teacher Aiden Ridley said he was hesitant to take on the shave, until one of his students’ parents donated $100.
“After that generosity I just couldn’t resist. I feel a bit naked now but it’s such a good cause,” Mr Ridley said.
Year 6 student Emily McMahon said it was “pretty cool” to watch her teachers take on the shave and to perfect her own hair for the school’s crazy hair day.
