Southern Districts will look to improve after the Rebels scored an unconvincing 45-26 win over Gordon on Saturday.
Souths took an early lead through a Jamie Verran penalty goal before Gordon took advantage of Denny Godinet’s stint in the sin bin for a high tackle, running in two converted tries.
Waratahs forward Jed Holloway came off the bench for the Rebels early in the second half and immediately scored a try to give Souths the lead. Jamson Fa’anana-Shultz scored soon after before Gordon hit back through an intercept try.
Holloway grabbed a second before Verran and Luke Smart crossed to seal the 19-point victory.
Souths have scored plenty of tries after four rounds of the Shute Shield but coach Matt Barr will be concerned with their defensive lapses as the club hunt for their first premiership.
The Rebels face struggling Penrith at Nepean Rugby Park in round five on Saturday.
