A state-of-the-art playground has been opened at Sylvania Heights Public School – featuring a giant sandpit, a water course and climbing surfaces.
The school hope the $72,000 playground, labelled a naturescape, will give students the opportunity to play and explore. A $30,000 government grant helped the school complete the project which was officially opened today.
School principal Margot Jacobs said the naturescape looked great.
“The naturescape features a giant sandpit, a water course, native kid-safe plants, low-climbing surfaces, a boat to imagine you’re at sea, and even the kitchen sink.”
Year 1 student Theodore Leris was the lucky student chosen to cut the ribbon to open the playground.
“Theodore was chosen because of his enthusiasm in watching the building of the naturescape, giving teachers and students a daily report on its development. It’s his favourite place at school.”
Miranda MP Eleni Petinos was on hand to help open the naturescape.
