Students from Brighton Le-Sands Public School were given the opportunity to explore the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Service (WLRHS) on Wednesday at their La Perouse base.

The primary school students were able to meet the crew of the WLRHS, asking questions and understanding how the crew prepare missions and deliver patients to hospital.
The school was selected from more than 3000 primary schools across Australia after completing the WLRHS program.
The initiative run by Westpac teaches students about the free community service and the importance of the rescue helicopter’s role in serving the community.
The WLRHS program has developed an app consisting of interactive games to educate primary school children about the rescue helicopters and safety equipment on board.
Westpac regional general manager (South Sydney), Jonathon Douglas said the bank was proud to raise awareness of one of Australia’s most recognisable community services.
“Bringing the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Service out to schools is another way we can showcase the amazing work the rescue crew do each day,” Mr Douglas said..
The WLRHS consists of 17 helicopters which operate from 13 bases across Australia.
