Pupils at Rockdale Public School have got their hands dirty planting 50 native trees and plants ahead of National Tree Day.
Pupils at the school were taught about native tress and plants before being shown how to plant them across the school this morning.
Planet Ark Environmental Foundation runs a tree planting campaign in schools each year, made to coincide with National Tree Day on Sunday, July 30.
The planting today was supported by Stewart Toyota Rockdale and Menai Wildflower Group.
Planet Ark spokesperson Debbie Agnew said it was critical to preserve Australia’s natural heritage as well as bring nature back to urban areas.
“With the support of Toyota and its dealer network, we are sure Australians will get their hands in the earth and give back to their community this National Tree Day.”
Marton Public School in Engadine will benefit from a similar tree planting later this year.
