Two lyrebirds were caught putting on a great mimicking show as they raked through leaves looking for worms, grubs and insects on the Lady Carrington Drive track in Royal National Park.
Travel blogger Greg Tannos posted the video on his website, findmyaustralia.com
“I was lucky enough to witness one of the best mimicking shows I have ever seen in the wild,” he said.
“Listen to the male bird belting out dozens of different sounds including a whipbird, currawong, cockatoo, lorikeet, kookaburra, wattlebird, rosella, robin, rock-warbler, thornbill and many more as well as mechanical sounds that I could only guess.”
Mr Tannos, of Alfords Point, started his website in 2015 “to show off this great country of ours and hopefully inform and give you ideas for your very own Australian adventure”.
