Sam Elmir is standing for the Liberals in Blakehurst Ward for Georges River Council election.
“I was born, raised and have lived in the St George region my entire life. My wife and I consider ourselves fortunate to be able to raise our four beautiful children in Blakehurst.
“Having attained a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Sydney, I went onto manage a number of community pharmacies, before then purchasing my own pharmacy in the St George Area.
“I am involved in a number of local charitable organisations and proudly sponsor the Kogarah Cougars Junior Rugby League Football Club.
“Elected to the former Kogarah City Council in 2008, I was part of a team that achieved the Australia’s most sustainable cities award in 2011.
“I was also proud to serve on both the Community Services and Corporate Governance Committees.
“Along with my colleagues on Council, I successfully lobbied the Federal Government for Infrastructure Grant Funding for the refurbishment of PJ Ferry community centre in Allawah.
“I am standing in this election to: ensure strong financial management by maintaining a council surplus Work to fix the parking problems in Hurstville and along Oatley Station;
- increase support for local small business, by working with council and small business to deliver a ‘Small Business Action Plan’;
- support local sporting groups to include upgrades to our local amenities and sporting fields.”
