Kirrawee’s Teagan Denham has won the 2017 Sydney Eisteddfod Senior Singer of the Year prize – impressing the judges with her renditions of Blue Skies, Gravity and Dream On.
Teagan won the title and $5000 top prize during the final at Petersham RSL Club earlier this month.
She impressed the judges with her performances of Blue Skies by Irving Berlin, Gravity by Sara Bareilles and Aerosmith's Dream On.
A veteran of Sydney Eisteddfod stages, Teagan was selected as a finalist in the Sydney Eisteddfod Junior Singer of the Year competition in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and then for the senior event in 2014 and 2015.
She explained performance opportunities such as Sydney Eisteddfod helped build her confidence.
“Sydney Eisteddfod has taught me to not doubt my choices as a performer, just to be confident and own the stage.
“Having such influential, talented judges with loads of experience in the performing arts is such a blessing to get their constructive criticism, and continue improving and growing as an artist and as a person.”
Teagan is currently studying for a Diploma of Dance - Performing Arts at Brent Street Studios and plans to relocate to Los Angeles next year to continue her study and pursue career-building opportunities.
“This is a goal I've been working hard to achieve and can't wait to take opportunities as they come and grow into a diverse performer, whose love for the arts will never die.”
The event’s $6500 total prize value would not have been possible without the generous support provided by sponsors Petersham RSL Club, WinkiPoP Media and backingtracks.com.au.
The senior competition is open to solo singers aged 16-25.
