Update 5pm:
St George police have spoken to the driver involved in the crash that saw a car end up on train tracks at Penshurst station this morning.
Acting Inspector Stuart Edgell said the woman, 54, was shaken but not seriously hurt.
‘’The driver was travelling west on Station Lane approaching Laycock Road when she was involved in a near collision,’’ he said.
‘’She accelerated instead of hitting the brakes, which caused her to collide into a parked car.
‘’The impact caused her to go through the station fence and down to the tracks below.’’
He said police were still taking statements but no fines had been issued.
She has since been discharged from St George Hospital.
Update: 2pm
There are still some delays to some train services. Commuters should allow for extra travel time.

A Penhurst resident, who didn’t want to be named, said the area was notorious for accidents.
“People just race around the corner,’’ he said.
“It’s just a rush here in the mornings.
He said there were also issues on the other side of the station particularly around the pedestrian crossing.
