More than 7000 budding athletes from across the state braved the sticky conditions at St Anne’s Vineyard in Myrniong on Saturday to test themselves on the grueling Tough Mudder circuit.
The obstacle course challenge, which tours the nation, boasted 23 challenges across 16 kilometres of track, ranging from climbing walls and barbed wire mud pits to pools of ice.
All up more than 10,000 people were expected to take to the course over the weekend.
Tough Mudder organiser Paul Mudge said wet weather earlier in the week had provided the perfect conditions for the challenge.
“It’s been spectacular so far, the venue itself is amazing and we had a perfect storm with a bit of rain to turn up the mud earlier in the week and a light shower this morning,” Mr Mudge said. “It’s all about teamwork and people getting out of their comfort zone.”
Now in its second year at the Myrniong location, the event is set to make a return to St Anne’s Vineyard in October 2018.
