The Angelo Anestis Aquatic Centre has claimed another award just under a year after it opened.
FDC Construction and Fit Out won the Master Builders Association Excellence in Construction Award in the sporting facilities category.
The centre opened on Australia Day and replaced the former Bexley Pool.
It includes an outdoor 50m pool, a children’s splash pad, and an indoor 25m pool with ramp access.
There is a fully equipped health club with fitness classes including Les Mills, community room and crèche, school tutoring and taekwondo.
The award judges had high praise for the centre.
‘’This is a community facility that was designed and constructed by FDC to overcome particular design restraints and is finished to a high standard,’’ the judges said.
It wasn’t the only St George building to be recognised.
Project Coordination (Australia) Pty Ltd won in the public schools category for the Cairnsfoot Special Needs School in Brighton-Le-Sands.
Hundreds of people took part in the award dinner which was held at The Star in Sydney on November 4.
