Hazelhurst Regional Gallery will be holding its second ‘At Night’ evening for the year on Friday, November 24 for people to enjoy an evening of art, music and food from 6-9pm.
‘At Night’ is a popular evening for Hazelhurst where people can see the current exhibition European Old Masters 16th – 19th Century, listen to live classical music in the gallery space, enjoy food and a glass of wine and have the opportunity to join the ten-minute gallery tours.
European Masters 16th – 19th Century is an exhibition of almost 30 key works from the state’s most important European old masters including works by some of the leading Italian, French and British artists of the High Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and Romantic periods.
The works are on loan from the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
Hazelhurst Regional Gallery director, Belinda Hanrahan said leading artists in the exhibition include Thomas Gainsborough, William Hogarth, Sir Joshua Reynolds, Bernardo Strozzi and Frans Snyders.
During ‘At Night’ people can listen to Anne Gerard-Austin, curator from the Art Gallery of New South Wales in conversation with Hazelhurst’s John Bartholomaeus about European Old Masters 16th – 19th Century.
People can also create a hand-written letter using ink and quill, and add a wax seal and create their own mask with the art making class with colours, feathers and glitter.
