Sylvanvale artists have showcased their talents at a special concert to celebrate International Day of People with Disability.
The concert, called ‘Charlie’s Collectors Emporium’ took place on Wednesday, December 8 at Georges River Life Centre.
The concert was presented by ArtsLife Access, supported by Georges River Life Centre and Georges River Council which provided two grants to help fund the initiative.
The concert was set in an old antique shop and included a combination of acting, singing and dancing, and drew cheers of appreciation, laughter and tears from the audience.
Sylvanvale chief executive officer Leanne Fretten congratulated the Sylvanvale artists for presenting a wonderful performance.
“We have been receiving calls and feedback from concert-goers to say how much they enjoyed the show,” she said.
“A huge thank you to ArtsLife Access, Georges River Life Centre, Georges River Council and our amazing support workers.
“It is because of their hard work and support that the concert took place.
“I hope very much that our artists will get to work with them again in the future as they had a wonderful time and got so much out of the experience.
“It was a fantastic way to celebrate International Day of People with Disability.”
Sylvanvale Foundation was formed in 1947 when a group of parents united to form an organisation that would give their children with a disability a better quality of life through access to education and social inclusion.
Today Sylvanvale Foundation supports more than 750 children and adults from a range of cultural backgrounds across Sydney and the Blue Mountains to live and participate in their community, as they choose.
