Pace Cranes is a well-known business entity in the St George area, employing many local people and training many apprentices.
While the company describes itself as a medium sized family-owned enterprise, its 30th anniversary celebrations attracted guests from interstate and overseas including its representatives from Maeda Mini-crawler cranes in Japan and Sennebogen cranes from Germany.
Pace was founded by the company’s chairman Paul Heeks at PA Construction Equipment Pty Ltd in 1987. His son, Anthony, started in the business as an apprentice and is now general manager.
Pace was the first company to bring in the Maeda Mini-crawler cranes to Australia and now have large Sennebogen Telescopic cranes from Germany.
The new Pace facility was officially opened by local State member for Oatley and Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure and Transport, Mark Coure.
The company has worked on the same site for almost 30 years until earlier last year when it demolished the existing facility and built its new workshop to prepare and service imported new cranes for markets in Australia, New Zealand and the Oceania region.
Also on hand to help celebrate Pace Cranes’ 30th anniversary was the president, of Japanese crane manufacturer Maeda president Masaaki Shioiri, Japanese trading house Rasa Corporation president Shuichi Imura, and German crane manufacturer, Sennebogen marketing director Bernhardt Krauss, managing director, Asia Marco Burgmer.
Approximately 160 guests helped to celebrate this milestone achievement with a display of the latest cranes and an official Sake Drum Ceremony performed by the dignitaries.
Over the past 30 years the company has employed many local people and has a company policy of training apprentices on an ongoing basis.
About twenty apprentices have been trained to date, and the company will begin hiring again in 2018.
