A man has been charged with dangerous, negligent and drug driving following a fatal crash at Lucas Heights in October last year.
The accident happened about 5pm on Sunday, October 15 when a Holden Commodore sedan and Nissan Navara utility collided on New Illawarra Road, Lucas Heights.
The 55-year-old man driving the utility and his passenger, a 63-year-old woman, were critically injured and taken to Liverpool Hospital.
The woman died on Saturday, November 4. The man is receiving ongoing treatment.
The driver of the sedan, an 18-year-old man from Engadine, was taken to St George Hospital with chest injuries and for mandatory blood and urine tests.
The Crash Investigation Unit has been conducting ongoing inquiries into the crash and yesterday arrested the 18-year-old man at Kings Cross Police Station.
He was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, drive vehicle with illicit drug present in blood, possess prohibited drug (x2) and not keep left of dividing line.
Police will allege that cannabis and methylamphetamine were located in the car and the man tested positive to both drugs.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday 6 February 2018.
The man’s licence is suspended.
